Lean Into How You Learn
I learn by doing. I've known this for a long time, at first subconsciously and then consciously. Others can learn by reading a book or watching a video. But I need to do whatever it is with my hands. There's something about it.
There have been times though, even recently, where I have denied this. I tried to avoid it for various reasons. I didn't have the patience to go through a simple tutorial, I should just be able to skip to the advanced steps. I avoided it because I knew the expectation of others was that I be more like them, book learners. I didn't follow doing it because I wanted to change who I was and how I learned.
Now, there's nothing wrong with trying to learn something new especially a different approach. But there's a balance to that that I have been missing - acceptance of who I am and how I learn. So this post is a reminder to myself to stop trying to be someone else - just be me.
